1/1/1900 -
9/28/2008 - The Annual ``Oldies Show`` Concert

VCCS receives no tax dollars and is funded totally through private contributions and fundraisers. One of our fundraisers is the annual "Oldies Show" concert held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds each year in September.

The 2008 Annual "Oldies Show" Concert will be held Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Seaside Park in Ventura (Ventura County Fairgrounds).  Gates will open at 4 PM and the show will start at 5 PM.

On the program will be Billy Vera and the Beaters, a well known nine piece LA area R&B band.  They had a huge hit, "At This Moment."  This is the first time we`ve been able to book them after several attempts in previous years.  We are in the process of booking a very special opening act with details to follow.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the concert show office at 805-659-1522.  Prices are $20 for the first person and $10 for each additional person.

Advertising opportunities are available by calling the concert show office and asking for Gary.  We have a special that includes color advertising in the official concert program AND being listed on the VCCS web site (where you are now!) for an entire year as a Crime Stoppers sponsor.  (Click on the "Sponsors" link to view the format.)   Other opportunities include booth space, banner space and general advertising in the program.  This has historically been a very well attended event.

10/1/2008 - Ventura County`s Most Wanted

Ventura County`s Most Wanted, in its present form was first published in January, 2007.  The concept is simple; draw information from the 11 law enforcement departments in Ventura County and publicize the names of individuals who are wanted and/or may be active criminally.

During the last 20 months 415 names have appeared in Most Wanted.  Of those, 203 are no longer wanted.  That is to say, nearly 50% have stood before  "the Judge" for their misdeeds.

Interestingly, not all of those 203 have been arrested.  Two reportedly surrendered themselves to the Ventura Police Department after seeing their names and photos in the Ventura County Star`s Most Wanted ad.  Several have appeared in Court, with or without their attorneys before they could be located and arrested.

There have also been vehicle pursuits when several suspects have attempted to flee police officers who either recognized them or were there to attempt an arrest.  On arrest, several have been found to be in possession of weapons and/or drugs.

These individuals should never be approached, if recognized, by civilians because of the potential for danger from a confrontation.
